Welcome to the College of Nursing and Health Innovation, a center of excellence in health care education and research. We are a college of faculty, staff and students who strive to achieve better health and improve the human condition through training and working as health care professionals, through research in basic and applied health science, and through service to our North Texas community and beyond. We are a college that is still growing and continue to add programs, such as the Ph.D. in Kinesiology and a new Public Health program, expanding the options available to students who come to us wanting to make a difference in health care.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is designed to prepare and train nurses. UTA has two tracks available to earn a BSN: the pre-licensure BSN and the post-licensure RN to BSN. These tracks are offered in two main formats: campus-based and accelerated online.
BSN PROGRAM OUTCOMES
- Apply the art and science of nursing using current evidence in the delivery of competent, culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate holistic care.
- Utilize analytical, systematic, and critical reasoning for clinical judgment and nursing decision-making.
- Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for: optimal nursing care, legal and ethical standards, lifelong learning, professional development, promoting the nursing profession, and participating as a citizen in society.
- Collaborate and communicate respectfully and effectively with persons/clients and interdisciplinary teams using oral, nonverbal, written, and electronic communication to promote and maintain optimal health outcomes to persons/clients.
- Demonstrate ethical behaviors and conflict management skills that inspire others and create effective working relationships to shape and implement change.
- Coordinate human and material resources in providing comprehensive, efficient, and cost-effective care to persons/clients.
- Articulate the importance of active and intentional life-long learning that includes self-reflection and awareness.
- Utilize standards of practice to provide safe nursing care in all patient care settings with an awareness of one’s role in preventing errors and promoting quality improvement.
- Access and utilize information and computer sciences to perform nursing functions.
DEPARTMENT OF GRADUATE NURSING
Our master’s specialty degrees prepare students for advanced practice, management and research endeavors to address a changing health care landscape. Both full-time and part-time study options are available as well as online and classroom-based programs. Our innovative doctoral programs – DNP and PhD – prepare clinical and research leaders to advance nursing and improve health care in our local community and around the world.

WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF KINESIOLOGY
Kinesiology is an academic discipline that focuses on the study of movement and physical activity and its impact on health, society, and quality of life. The Department of Kinesiology is part of the College of Nursing and Health Innovation and furthers UTA’s mission to improve health and the human condition as our society moves into the 21st century.
ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS
The Department is comprised of three undergraduate programs, which includes a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science program with tracks in Clinical & Applied Physiology, Health, Fitness & Wellness, and Motor & Rehabilitation Sciences, a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology with tracks in Physical Education Teacher Education and Sport Leadership and Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. The department also has three master’s programs – a Master of Science in Exercise Science, a Master of Science in Athletic Training, and Master of Public Health, as well as a Ph.D. in Kinesiology.
The Department of Kinesiology is an active member of the American Kinesiology Association (AKA).
